REPORT DATE MAY 29, 2020
Boston Harbor: Captain Vinny Simeone StormBusterCharters.com
Schoolie stripers all over Boston Harbor, mostly around islands. Flounder is plentiful on the usual spots and are producing decent size fish.
Plymouth: Captain Bob Avila CaptJohn.com
Buzzards Bay: Captain Dave Altrich Altrich Anglers Charters
In the bay the bass bite continues to be great with large schools of bass up to 27" and of course the occasional keeper. They have been hitting on topwater plugs and darters etc. Over the next week expect a change to see many more keepers on the boat.
The blues are in but not to the extent they are all over.
The black sea bass and tautog bite is on fire with some knuckleheads to 22" and decent size Tautog. June 1st Taug (Black fish) you can only keep one.
My recommendation for this week is to hit the stripers early then end the day with Black Sea Bass and Taug.
Cape Cod Bay: Captain Joe Penta CaptainJoePCharters.com
Early reports of keeper bass pushed through the canal into Cape Cod Bay. Have a feeling next week striper fishing will be blown open in the bay with keeper bass. My thought process is to continue to work Barnstable and Billingsgate for bass. Start working some deep water rigs for larger bass in the week to come.
Vineyard Sound: Captain Skip Bandini TheFishBandit.com
Vineyard sound is absolutely on fire with fish right now. Stripers are on both Hedge Fence and Middleground shoals. The fish are hitting lures in the 1 ounce range.
Black Sea Bass are being caught up to 20" and most fish are over 15" (keepers) if you are in the correct areas. My sense is the fishing will continue to be great this upcoming week with even bigger knuckleheads to be brought on board.
Scup up to 15" have been caught in the sound and I'm sure there are larger ones to be hooked.
My favorite lure for the Sea Bass is the Daddy Mac 2.8 ounce Green Sand Eel, or the Diamond Chain Jig, these lures can catch fish with squid or without. Personally we have caught Stripers, Sea Bass, Scup and Blues on these lures.
Nantucket Sound: Captain Jimmy Koutalakis
General Report: Captain Terry Nugent RipTideCharters.com
Loads of school bass EVERWHERE! Plenty of Black Sea Bass around. Found some 5-7 pound blues and a handful of hickory shad..
Rhode Island: Captain Dan Smith NaturalNineFishing.com
Bluefish have started to show up in good numbers in the Warwick area. Big bass are in the bay and multiple reports of weakfish in Narragansett Bay on the early morning tide.
